REBEL REBEL ITALIA
In the lush Serchio valley north of the city of Lucca in Tuscany, you will find our flower farm in a small hamlet close to the single track railway line that weaves its way from Lucca through the marble mountains of Carrara to the coast. Back in 2017 Mairead and Athena bought the Rebel house and field as a place to host our Summer Flower School Retreat.
Our small cutting garden has expanded into a much larger flower field and Rebel Rebel Italia now decorates weddings and events all over Tuscany and beyond with its own organic flowers as well as flowers grown locally and in other parts of Italy and Europe from Pescia’s flower market.
We grow beautiful seasonal blooms using ‘no dig’ and organic growing practices, protecting the soil’s structure and improving drainage, allowing undisturbed worms and soil fauna to do their jobs, thereby having as little impact on the planet as possible! Our summer produce includes cosmos, zinnias, roses, phlox, achillea, penstemon, snapdragons, tagetes, we could go on…
Athena and Mairead founded the original Rebel Rebel in Hackney, East London where they have a shop delivering bouquets all over London, a workshop for events and weddings and they run a series of monthly workshops at their friends’ bakery, The Dusty Knuckle, and bespoke workshops.

We prioritise the use of organically grown flowers and foliage whenever possible, ensuring that our practices are not only environmentally responsible but also promote biodiversity. Our commitment to foam-free floristry reflects our dedication to reducing plastic waste in the floral industry, while our practice of recycling flowers post-event transforms what could be waste into new life, contributing to a circular economy. Furthermore, we actively collect all plastic waste for recycling, embodying our commitment to minimise our ecological footprint and foster a more sustainable future.
