May.. what a challenging month! With two members of our regular small team on emergency leave, including the field manager (me!), there has been some concern about getting all of our seed babies into the ground.  In some ways it was the most fortunate timing though, as two fabulous volunteers were already booked to join us from Canada and America. They were students at our flower school a few years ago and had already returned once to help us in the field.  They are both experienced gardeners and really helped to save the day, getting all of the seedlings into the ground, weeding like troopers, and just generally making everything look fabulous while I was unable to do any physical work. After their visit, a quiet spell in weddings meant some extra help from the wedding manager. The field has been in very good hands and everything is coming together beautifully. What a relief! In farming you have to be ready for anything, and we have weathered another storm here at Rebel Rebel Italia - this one didn't come from the mountains but was just as tricky!! 

We have had a burst of beautiful peonies, alliums (new this season!), marigolds, and an absolute explosion of California poppies this month.
