FLOWER SCHOOL ITINERARY
The course is spread over five days, with six nights accommodation. This is a guide only and subject to change according to weather conditions.
SUNDAY : ARRIVAL
You will arrive at your home for the next week, Col di Lavacchio: a working organic farm and agriturismo. Here you will discover its vineyard, wild flower meadow, orchard and woodland, 12m pool and gorgeous views across the valley. In the evening there will be welcome drinks and dinner.
MONDAY : FLOWERS & FORAGING
On the first day you will learn the fundamental and challenging skill of making a bouquet. We will use seasonal and local flowers to make a stunning bouquet. We will also use this day to get to know the surrounding area with a long foraging walk through the local woodland, collecting foliage, herbs and wild flowers. After lunch at a local restaurant we will learn the second most important skill of bridal work. We will make a classic foam free formed bouquet! In the evening you will have a delicious home cooked meal by your hosts Jamie and Ailsa.
TUESDAY : SEASONS & GROWING
On Tuesday we will spend the day exploring Rebel Rebel Italia and our flower field! In the morning we will spend time learning about our flower farm, exploring the different flowers, understanding seasons, as well as our growing techniques. After lunch at the local agriristoro, we will be making a floral foam free installation in the woods using flowers freshly cut from the field. Dinner this evening can be enjoyed at the farm house or we can organise a taxi to a local restaurant.
WEDNESDAY : FREE DAY
Today is your free day. A day to roam Lucca or the local area. Or maybe you would like to stay by the pool with your favourite book, this is a day to relax!
THURSDAY : FLORAL INSTALLATION
Thursday we spend the morning making beautiful and classic urn style arrangements, learning how to work with chicken wire (a florists best friend!). After a delicious lunch in Old Barga at our favourite restaurant, we will be set to create a large hanging installation in an ancient art gallery in town. This evening you will have to yourselves. You can stay in Barga for dinner, or we can take you to a local alimentari to get supplies to cook your own dinner.
FRIDAY - DAY 5: FINAL FEAST
On Friday morning we will relax on the terrace of Col di Lavacchio and learn the skill of wiring flower crowns. This is very technical but therapeutic all the same. After lunch we decorate the area for our Final Feast. The afternoon will be spent decorating our feast table and the surrounding aperativi area. In the evening will celebrate a great week with delicious food and wine of course!
SATURDAY
Saturday is check out day. We strongly recommend booking a flight in the afternoon so you can have a final morning to enjoy a final leisurely day in Italy. Airport transfers are provided.
TRAVEL
For each workshop date you arrive on Sunday and departure will be the following Saturday. Airport transfers included.
Pick up will be arranged for BEFORE 5pm in Pisa and 5.30pm in Lucca on the Sunday. The return trip on Saturday is to suit the earliest in the group (for flights departing after 10am ONLY). If you book a flight before 10am we can recommend taxis, but please note it is an 1.5 hour drive and very expensive.
